Golden Yellow · Pale Raw Umber

Honey poured over dark walnut, one colour full of light, the other the same gold gone deep and brown.

Both sit in the yellow band, so they are of one family, and the contrast is carried by value alone. The umber, lower and quieter, becomes a shaded ground for the bright gold above it. Their kinship of hue keeps so large a step in light from splitting the pair.
