A pale blue and a gentle rose sit fairly far apart, yet the pairing stays soft because both have been quieted and lifted in value. The blue is the cooler and slightly lighter, the rose the warmer, so the contrast becomes one of temperature held at low volume. It is the colour of things long in use.
